Lemon Detox
By Christina | March 29, 2009
Ah, another latest and greatest way to get the body you have always wanted.. drink plenty of lemons. What else will they think of? Seems Mariah Carey and Beyonce Knowles are touting the wonderful results they are having on the magical diet. Before I even go into details on what the Lemon Detox Diet is, let me say, I don’t believe in any of these fads, I don’t believe in powders, pills, starvation, colonics, hypnosis.. not that I don’t think there is not some other value to all of that but certainly, they are methods to achieve health, wellness or the perfect body.
The rational and goal of the detox plan is to rid your body of poisonous toxins which, according to the diet creators, build up in your body as a result of chemicals you are bombarded by daily. It is these poisons hat then ruin your quality of life by attacking your energy, make you tired, leave you vulnerable to disease and more.
Okay, so now are geared up to release the waste from your life and get slim and trim. Your daily intake of “nutrients” will consist only of a drink made of lemon, tree syrup, cayenne pepper, salt, herbal tea and water. Each ingreadient has its own special role in the detox process.
Lemon Juice: Flushes out wastes from the body
Cayenne Pepper: Speeds up the metabolism
Salt/Herbal Tea: Stimulates bowel movements
Water: Hydrates the body and helps cleanse it
Tree syrup: Has the nutrients and calories to keep the body functioning normally
You should drink your detox miracle diet potion at least 6 – 10 times each day. Mmmm, sounds yummy.
Beyond delicious it is also NOT nutritionally sound. 600 calories a day is not adequate to keep you functioning on any level. Your body needs over 1200 calories a day – unless a doctor orders otherwise. At 600 you will lose weight (SCORE) but you will pay a price. Your metabolism will slow down, you will store calories for fuel later, you will become irritable and lethargic. If that doesn’t get you running to the fridge for some lemons, consider that the weight you lose will probably come right back because you did not change how you eat, you only starved yourself for a short period of time.
