No matter your age or condition, exercsie is excellent for your brain. You’ve heard milk does a body good? Now hear exercise does a brain good. Controlled studies have concluded (such as one in Neuromolecular Medicine),that exercise, specifically aerobic exercise, improves cognitive brain functioning. It has also been found to be especially beneficial for improving functions such as planning and working memory.
Once believed to be impossible, science is now saying we can create new brain cells and exercise is believed to be an enhancer of that function. If no other reason, this should be enough to get people up and working out. But wait, there is more. Research done in Neuromolecular Medicine also found a direct correlation betweetn exercise and impoved memory and learning.
The evidence points at exercise for increasing cognitive function and certainly it has been found to supercede other brain boosting practices such as brain training, drugs, nutritional supplements and meditation. Wait again, there are even more reasons to workout. Exercise assists is weight reduction, improves mood and increases your life span. What more need I say? If after this you still are not convinced to hit the gym, the pool, the mat (yoga) or whatever you deem appropraite for you, you are simply limiting your own brain’s potential and cutting your life short as well!
