Workout under the bridge/ highway ramp
By Christina | June 4, 2008
Okay, this one is unorthodox, I admit it. When you have worked out in the gym and around the parking lot and through the parks, you start to think about new ways to challenge yourself and others. A few months ago I was at Markham Park in Weston, Florida and saw some people walking up and down the highway ramp supports. They are pretty steep but didn’t look like a big deal, so I tried it. Holy Cow! This is a great way to target your glutes, quads and hamstrings (gluteal muscles, quadriceps and hamstrings).
The workout is simple:
- Find somewhere safe where you can walk up and down the ramp (under the actual roadway, not where the cars are)
- Walk up and down the ramp 5 times
- Walk backwards up the ramp and down as normal 5 times
- Perform single leg lunges at the base of the ramp
- Perform decline push ups at the base of the ramp
- Walk up and down a few more times
- Wait for the next day to get up out of bed
