Treasure or Clutter?

By Christina | November 11, 2007

As I sat in church this morning, not too interested if truth be told, the speaker talked about the fires in California and how the people literally had but moments to grab what they could before the fires consumed their homes or before the evacuation which left them with no time to go through and take what they wanted.  The speaker asked us to close our eyes and visualize our own homes and think about each room… if we had 30 seconds per room to take what we could, family and pets safely out of harm, what would we take?  What is truly a treasure?  All else is possibly clutter or not really of value.

As I sat there I realized, there is nothing besides my laptop, which has all my photos and videos and work that I really care about.  I own maybe a couple hundred dollars in jewelry, no shoes I can’t live without, no irreplaceable works of art, no Versace or Prada clothes or bags…  There are a few boxes of my children’s momentos that I have collected since the day they were born that I would take, but that’s it.

What is your treasure? What would you grab if you had 30 seconds per room?  Are you surrounded by clutter or treasures?
