August Monthly Organizing Checklist
ARTICLE RATING ![]() This August LifeOrganizers.com has put together a very special organizing checklist to help you keep your family, home and office organized. A small daily task can make all the difference to the overall de-cluttering of the home. August 1 School is starting soon. Sort out your children’s old school gear today. Throw out, donate or sell clothes, notebooks and textbooks that are no longer necessary. Make a folder for old report cards and certificates and file them away.
August 2 Have you been struggling with trying to get healthy, or are you in debt up to your ears or are you desperately trying to lose weight? Consider joining a local Twelve Step Program that targets your personal life goals. AA has inspired over 300 different Twelve Step Programs for everything from grief and acceptance, to bankruptcy and how to live with disability - that has helped millions - perhaps you might find one that is appropriate for you.
August 4 School starts soon. Take an inventory of children’s clothing and school supplies. Make a list of items they will need for the new school year. August 5
August 7 Are your trash bags helping or hindering you? If they continuously break or make your garage storage area reek, it might be worth the investment to buy some stronger drawstring bags. Test out a small quantity first. If you like them, you can later buy them in bulk and save a bundle in the long run. August 8 Lets polish the dining room today in preparation for tonight. The dining room table is usually where hearty dinners and memorable family meals take place on special occasions. Tonight let's borrow a little of those warm holiday feelings by having tonight’s dinner in the dining room.
August 10 Stock up on guest hand towels. Place a stack in the bathroom. The next time you have unexpected guests it will be a cinch to replace the old towels with a clean, new ones. August 11 Do you buy clothes only to find you never wear them often enough while they are still fashionable because you only ever put on your old favorites out of habit? Wear more of your clothes this summer, by turning your clothes hangers in your closet to face the same direction. For the next month only wear the clothing still facing this direction. As you go through your clothing laundry cycle for the next 4 weeks, turn the hangers the other way on the clothes you put back into your closet. August 12 Replenish your stock of bath tissue in each toilet and bathroom. While we're at it, let's not leave out replenishing the kitchen paper towels and tissue boxes that go into each bedroom.
August 15 Make carpool arrangements for the new school year. Take into consideration afterschool activities. August 16 Clear the bedside table in the guest bedroom today. Guest Room Idea: Why not lay the last novel you enjoyed along with a crossword puzzle book and local television schedule on the nightstand for your next guest to enjoy. August 17 Today is Sandcastle Day. Spend the day at the beach with the family building sandcastles. It will be fun for everyone! August 18 It's time to clean underneath your sofa. Enlist some helpful hands if you need to move the sofa to vacuum. August 19 Update your contact information for your child’s school and aftercare, after school activities and carpool. Make sure they also have your information and current emergency contact details. August 20 Do you have hundreds of Greeting Cards saved? Gather all your greeting cards together into a note card organizer box and categorize them by season and holiday, and occasion (birthday, holiday, thank you cards) using labeled note cards. Or make it your next craft project by:
• Placing them into a photo album or scrapbook August 21 Tackle a project you’ve been putting off at work. Don’t let yourself get distracted. August 22 Be an Angel Day. Perform an act of kindness today. You could donate or volunteer to do something for a friend or a charity. August 23 Assemble the family together and plan fun activities or an outing on Labor Day. August 24 Scan your local newspaper to see what new events are taking place. Perhaps there will be a store sale, community event or new park opening that you would like to attend. August 25 Spend some time today on a craft or hobby today. August 26 Today is Women’s Equality Day. Take the day off from the kitchen, hang up your apron and order in! August 27 Are your kids tucked away in their rooms reading and you haven't heard a peep out of them in what seems like days? Your husband just got the Complete Limited Edition DVD Collection of M.A.S.H and what looks like a stadium pal? It's time to schedule a weekly family night to reconnect and discuss family matters. August 28 Organize your toolbox. Go around the house and gather all the tools into one toolbox, or tool drawer. Screws, nuts, bolts and other little pieces can be stored in small plastic containers. August 29 Remember to do something nice for yourself today. August 30 Is there a pair of shoes in your closet that you know you will never wear again? Is it time to donate them? Take them down to your local charity. August 31 Clean out your grill. This way the next time you want to have a barbeque there will be no excuses.
