Here is a guide on how to clean your pet's doghouse, crate or kennel in 3 easy steps. A dog house should be cleaned at least once a month to ensure your pets happiness and better his quality of life.

Step 1 - Empty the Doghouse or Kennel

Remove all bedding and toys from the inside of the kennel so that you can scrub out the kennel without clutter.

Step 2 - Scrubbing the Kennel Clean

  • Now that the doghouse has been emptied hose clean both the outside and inside of the doghouse.
  • Drain any standing water out of your kennel.

Note: Dogs can be sensitive to the strong smell of human detergents. Opt rather for an organic cleaner or a homemade solution.

  •  Use a plastic bristled brush to apply a natural cleaner to the doghouse and leave to dry.

Step 3 - Blankets and Straw

If your dog uses blankets give them a quick cycle in a washing machine then dry them out in the sun. Treat them as you would your own blankets. Once dry a light sprinkling of bicarbonate of soda can help to sustain the freshness of the blankets.

If your pet uses straw - it's time to throw it away. Once the doghouse is scrubbed clean you can lay down a fresh layer. Straw too can benefit from a light sprinkling of bicarbonate of soda to help keep its freshness.
