Flowers and Chocolates
I quizzed a few gentlemen in the office today on whether this clichéed gift still had a place in the holiday – or was it just a worn out tradition that no one appreciates. The single guy agreed with me that Valentines was a commercial ploy to grab his last few dollars. While the married man gasped!
“No – man don’t make that mistake!” Yeah, he had our attention. “You send her flowers at work. Some Godiva chocolates and a card that says how much you love her. You send it so that all her friends at work see it and she feels special. Man you gotta book this 2@*&^! Early. Even if Valentines falls on a Saturday (like it does this year) make sure she gets it at work. Man you gotta make your girl feel special.”
Well now I’m not married but I thought back to the last time I got roses on Valentines Day. It was from a runny nosed kid who had wiped his nose on my jacket once. But boy do I remember carrying around those roses. Yes I did feel special. Yes my friends were envious. Yes that feeling carried through for the rest of the week. So yes the verdict is buy her flowers, throw in some chocolate and have them delivered at her office.
Godiva’s deadline for Valentines Day standard delivery: 2/9, 11pm ET. 1-800-flowers.com will be shipping free or with no service charge on Valentines Day.
